Eggs four ways

Boiled egg
Serves one
Ingredients
1 egg
Salt and pepper
Method
1. Fill a small pan two-thirds of the way up with water and bring to the boil.
2. Lower the egg into the pan carefully, using a spoon.
3. Simmer for 5 minutes for a rich, runny yolk or 10–12 minutes for a hard-boiled egg you can slice. Peel, season with salt and pepper and serve.

Scrambled egg
Serves one
There is only one secret to sublime scrambled eggs and that is using lots of butter. Get ready for the creamiest and most delicious plate of eggs you could wish for.
Ingredients
2 eggs
Generous knob of butter
1 slice of buttered toast
Salt and pepper
Method
1. Crack the eggs into a bowl, season generously, then use a fork to whisk together well.
2. Heat the butter in a saucepan over a medium heat. Once melted and bubbling, pour in the whisked eggs.
3. Stir the eggs almost constantly as they begin to come together — this should take about 4-5 minutes. The secret is to turn the heat off when the eggs still look a little liquid. Once the heat is off, continue to stir the eggs and the residual heat will finish off the cooking.
4. Now spoon your scrambled eggs over hot toast, top with a little extra black pepper and get stuck in.

Fried egg
Serves one
Everybody should know how to fry an egg. The knowledge should somehow be passed from mother to child via the umbilical cord. However, it’s not. So it’s down to us to give you our version.
Ingredients
2 tbsp oil
1 egg
1 slice of buttered toast
Method
1. Heat the oil in a frying pan over a medium to high heat. Once hot, crack the egg into the pan. Do not crack it from any great height as you may break the yolk.
2. Cook the egg for 2 minutes until the white has set.
3. Take a teaspoon and begin gently scooping up some of the hot oil and spooning it over the yolk. Repeat this process a few times and you will see that the raw white on the surface of the yolk is beginning to turn opaque — this means that it is cooked. This process should take you about 1 minute. By this time, your egg is perfectly fried and ready to top your slice of buttered toast.

Poached egg
Serves one
One of the healthiest and most delicious ways to prepare an egg is to poach it.
Ingredients
1 egg
1 slice of buttered toast
Salt and pepper
Method
1. Fill a large saucepan with water and heat it until it is just below boiling point — there should be a few small bubbles shooting from the bottom of the pan to the surface.
2. Crack your egg into a mug or a bowl (this will help the egg retain its shape), and when the water is hot, gently slide your egg in. Leave the egg to simmer on a low temperature for 3–4 minutes. If the water begins to boil too hard, reduce the heat.
3. The egg is cooked when the yolk is masked by a thin layer of cooked, fully-formed white, but it will still be soft to the touch. Remove the poached egg with a slotted spoon and place on to hot buttered toast.
4. Season with salt and pepper, dig in and marvel at the velvety richness of your perfectly poached egg.
Tip: For a delicious breakfast, cook the poached egg as instructed, but use it to top a toasted English muffin, add some wilted spinach and a little shop-bought hollandaise sauce.
